Thanks bigfella. Was planning on doing Rombalds Stride and Spen 20 to make sure I get some longer distance runs in. Plus if I enter, I'm not really going to race it, as my main focus is 3P.

I know that if the weather comes in, it can be pretty bleak up there - originally from Sheffield and done a lot of hill walking around Kinder and Castleton, so I know the area quite well. I've never done the bit round from Mam Tor along Rushup Edge and across Brown Knoll though, so will have to recce that bit

My friend is also thinking of entering and she doesn't think she isn't sure either.
We've both done Whernside, Yorkshireman1/2, Withins Skyline this year, a couple of Calderdale Way Relays, a couple of Bradford Millenium Way relays, the UKA fell relays last year and an AS at Kettlewell. I've also done Winter Hill this year and the Auld Lang Syne a couple of times and she has some experience from orienteering in the past.
Do we have enough "experience" for this race?
Its a good step up race
If your new to long distance fell running you need to make sure you are able to navigate off the fellside if you get into problems. A few years back this race turned into a survival of the fittest when 80mph winds battered the runners. It was extremely cold to the point where I dont think Ive witnessed anything colder. You will be fine but Id recce the route to make sure. Take plenty of kit and food. You will feel it going up to Brown Knoll.
Get entered and have a good Skyline
If you need any route tips or info just PM me

Email AndyJ and tell him your experience level and what you will be doing on the mean time.

    Fozzy,

Excellent idea from Bigfella about Grindleford. I ran it last year and its very 'runnable' because the climb is a lot less than at Edale but it is of a comparative distance. It will give you some idea going into the Skyline of that kind of distance if you haven't done it before under race conditions without killing you entirely.

I'll be at Grindleford again. Its fast and long. It's not a fell race as such (although I believe it used to be a part of the FRA calendar a few years ago), more of a trail event, but a very good blast. Excellent soup, butties and cakes afterwards too. http://www.grindlefordgallop.co.uk/

I'll also be at the Skyline. Entry went off yesterday. Given that I can't get to the office today and I'm sat at home the recces for it might have an early start

I'll ask him later but it looks right, If you haven't heard any thing in a couple of days give him a call, His Mobile number is on the entry form which are available on the Dark peak site.

Yes, but you'll have no problems, still 100 places left, Not sure Andy will be getting any post though for a few days.
