went for a walk today up the local lane. Found a 4x4 navarra stuck in a snow drift. snow up to my waist in places, here's some pictures

Just seen Woodhead Mountain Recue out on the A57 in Worksop on BBC,out to 200 lorries, makes you realise how much snow we have got around Sheffield, up to knees in places (6' and dont have short legs!)

...and it's going to get worse for all the MR teams as police and the Fire service shed staff their ability to deal with similar incidents and look for missing persons and a search water ways for bodies etc becoming increasingly difficult to staff/fund. The MR is a free resource (although they do fund some of our kit such as radios) which the emergency services can call on at any time.

Yes Yiannis I love the snow. The neighbours think I am totally bonkers taking a border collie with flashing bike lights on his collar for a run over the hills in blizzard conditions. I have suffered for years with Seasonal disorder but its a fact that winters with a bit of snow in them are not so bad. I had a 9 mile trudge tonight, just me and the dog and no other footprints on the hills. Magic
Yes I have the problem now of my hands but when its this cold I just use 2 x pairs of gloves and the handwarmers.
