well done to halifax harriers for putting the race on.
due to the congested fixture list, it's bound to cause some clashes, but I should imagine they've put it on a weekend which wont caise too much conflict.
racing is genearlly about the individual but this race its a great one for promoting team spirit and building social capital amongst clubs and we should endevour to support events such as these

I ran in the first and nearly everyone since. If my club can't find enough to fill places I would love to run in this brilliant event. Thank you for all the work you have done over the years to keep such a great running and social event going.

well, i didn't want to say. mytholmeroyd is a far better race they put on but it doesn't make any money.
Having had time to think about this rearranged date for Calder, I question whether there is a need from a runners point of view for this race to go ahead.
Its right in the middle of the fell calendar, a week after the Peaks and it some how seems weird to be thinking, planning, cajoling team members to make themselves available when there are so many other committments at that time.
There is no argument over the merits of what is the best relay race bar none but why the need to put it on in May? Surely we could have coped until it comes around again in December!
Are there financial implications in this? No one responded to that suggestion previously. Could any club that has an entry for last year and paid, withdraw and get a refund due to its cancellation and subsequent rearrangement?
I pose this question as an individual and not on behalf of my club because I know there are many who will relish the thought of running "Calder" but I am interested in the implications and effects this would have on the host club.
Are there Clubs who now cannot put out a full team(s) but are competing for the "love" of the race despite not being in a position to record a "race time"?

I'd also (again) point out that it's also on the same day as both Local "big" half marathons - Sheffield and Leeds, which seems crazy to me. I'm sure some people think that runners who run on the fells don't run on the roads and vice versa. This is simply not true. I do, and enjoy, both types of racing (and XC and trail as well), because they all offer different types of challenges.
To think that this scheduling clash won't affect the other events, as well as the relay, is very short sighted.
I for one, won't be doing it in May, because I'm hopefully running the peaks a week earlier, and if I wasn't I'd be running or helping at the Leeds HM. I shall, instead, look forward to running this in December (weather permitting!)

Due to the relay clashing with so many other fell races, BG attempts etc we are struggling to fill all our teams now and it looks like if Halifax can't find a replacement team for any that you can't fill you have lost your money. I feel that Halifax should at least give refunds on any teams not filled or at least let you carry the entry on until December. Surely the club is a big enough club to have the funds to do this and it would be a good will gesture. It's only with it being one of the busiest racing times of the year afterall that we can't fill the teams. When we cancelled the Trog a few years ago due to bad weather we looked to put it on at another time but felt it did clash with too many other things ... and who wants the Trog to be easy in nice warm weather across the moors!!!!
