    Re: Today's poet

    Wot a pair

I waz walking down Wyefront street
    When me trousers ran away,
    I waz feeling incomplete
But still me trousers would not stay,
When I found where they had gone
De pair addressed me rather blunt,
And they told me they were sick of being put on
    Back to front.

I told dem I would treat dem good
And wear dem back to back,
    I promised dem protection
From a friend who is a mac,
Me trousers did not believe a single word I had to say,
    And me underpants were laughing
    When me trousers ran away.

There is No Frigate Like a Book

There is no frigate like a book
    To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
    Of prancing poetry
This traverse may the poorest take
    Without oppress of toll;
    How frugal is the chariot
    That bears a human soul!

    nice one Harry!

I have been enjoying everyone's contributions (especially nee bother's orginals) but feel lacking in inspiration myself !

here is something from the bard which i rather like...made me reflect that sometimes I wish time would stand still

Sonnet XV: When I consider everything that grows
    :

When I consider everything that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment,
That this huge stage presenteth nought but shows
    Whereon the stars in secret influence comment;
When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheered and check'd even by the selfsame sky,
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
    And wear their brave state out of memory;
Then the conceit of this inconstant stay
Sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
Where wasteful Time debateth with Decay
    To change your day of youth to sullied night;
And all in war with Time for love of you,
As he takes from you, I engraft you new.

Don't worry. I don't feel inspired every week either. It comes in waves, like racing form. I make the most of it while it lasts, then rest for a bit.

    I like it Freckle!
I feel a bit the same. I don't have enough headspace right now to even select other people's poetry let alone write my own...I still try and keep up to date with the thread though but wish time would just stop for a while so I can stand still for a bit. Hope you are staying well.xx

    Re: Today's poet

    Time Is a Time Going

    Time is a time going
On to the steps all around
    From the departure flowing
And needs again to be found
    Signs are the pathways tomorrow
    Making the destinies road
    Feelings of yesterday borrow
And taking of their many load
When time is a time going

    Time is a time showing
    That has been done before
    Nothing to no one owning
    Making its settle to score
Rise to times and their sign
    Everything comes to unwind
    When stumbling upon to align
    Which has been before assigned?
When time is a time showing

    Time is a time knowing
    All that’s been done before?
    Fast forward speed or slowing
    With nothing to know anymore
    The Situations matching all up
    Finding a way to survive
Holding its own not at all to stop
    That’s what makes it alive
    When times are times knowing

    Time is a time staying
    With its perspective content
    On to each stage playing
    Onto their purpose and advent
    Nothing to take for sure
For so much is far behind
    When corners come to allure
To those illusions that are blind
When time is a time staying

    Time is a time tomorrow
    When much has turned around
And we of those steps borrow
When none's there to be found
    Halfway and through the hide
    Everything is crocked not straight
    Compromised intention inside
To have it all again deactivate
For time is a time tomorrow
