on the subject of medical certificates.
These may not be required if you are a member of your national running body - UK Athletics I guess in our case. I've certainly seen races where this is the case.
I don't know how strict these things really are anyway
last year in France I waved my SHR membership card at the race officials - they weren't interested. In Morroco I had a doctor's cert, they never even asked for it (French organisers).
And how would they verify any doctor's cert anyway ? I reckon its just a piece of paper for them to point at if something happens.

I imagine UTMB may be a little more serious about these things ??

I think they are more serious, at least in terms of having something on file.

They know that having a plastic card from UKA does not mean that an athlete has had a medical; whereas to be a member of the FAF requires a compulsory annual medical.

As to the efficacy of the certificate from an organiser's point of view, I could spout about English law but the implications under the French Civil code aren't really my strong point.

Brilliant film. Feel excited already. I completely get the woman who cries! I feel emotional about it already! Just got to stay fit and stop the right knee from seizing up and the left hip from giving up! On the subject of weather I hope it won't be as hot as the Compton Downland 40 I did a couple of Saturdays ago. 26 degrees with little shade- just brutal! I would have been happy for a drop of rain.

The CCC route book arrived last year while we were on holiday in Cham. Late June it was.

Tom, do you still need to talk through the race route?

    I could help.

If you want to PM me with your email address, I could send you details. Or if you have the 2 blue ISGN maps handy, I could do it over the phone.

There is a course change for the CCC.

Landslide between Courmayeur and the Tunnel.

Details in the latest Newsletter here:

    http://www.ultratrailmb.com/document...in2011_EN.html

Because of the numbers hitting the single track so quickly, there will be a staggered start.

Bet I'll be in the 10.20 am group with the rest of the Ws!
