Hes I did the same - all that (well some) training and now I'm not in. At the moment not sure whether I'm glad to be in or not.

Little nervous about my first 3P now! I hope the sun we've had lately stays away next Saturday. My previous furthest fell race was Holme Moss (17m) last year so I've been following a marathon training plan with added fells, unfotunately got laid low with a bug and missed my 3rd of 3 20 mile runs before easing off. Fingers crossed, just take it steadier & take on plenty of water and at least if it stays dry then road shoes will suffice.

    Any tips?

Hold back for the first two hours or so (subject to your expected pace) - the race starts after the top of Whernside.

You'll be absolutely fine. Did it a few years ago after entering in the depths of winter, think I was drunk at the time. Wasn't going to do it, did a 20 miler on the moors the week before. Ah well, Ribblehead and I'll drop out. Okay, not feeling too bad, carry on to Hill Inn. Hmm, still okay, might as well go to the finish. Do YOUR OWN pace and don't worry about anyone else or where you are position wise. Whernside is THE climb. Get to the top of that and you'll be fine. Hopefully it won't be sunny. Overcast and the odd bit of drizzle suits me best. All the best and enjoy the experience, just don't go mad at the start. You'll soon be passing people on the way round.

Any one got any advice on how to treat sore ribs? I fell whilst cycling last Thursday and landed awkwardly on my right ribs! There is no visible swelling or bruising but it is still really painful.

It would be a shame if I had to pull out of the peaks now after all the training i've done!

see a physio - I often resist, but when I've been it seems to speed up recovery.

    Otherwise ice and heat regularly.

Please can I ask a shoe question? I know it's been done to death but as a first timer I'm getting stressed and that's throwing up (almost literally) many questions.

I know the ground is hard. Is everyone wearing road shoes? I hate mine. What else can I wear?
