I dropped out after a shocker of a climb up Whernside and a heavy fall on the way down. The wind caught me and and I tripped. At the same time as falling got incredibly bad cramp as well. Trotted/hobbled to Hill Inn where I thought about continuing but realised that it would be a bad idea.

Sorry to hear about that 21. There was a bad faller coming off Pen-y-ghent. A proper face plant. Hope he's ok as my family said they saw someone with a badly cut face. The wind was incredibly strong atop Whernside, battering me sideways. However, for me, nothing compared to "dibbing" atop Whernside & turning a full 180 into the full force of the wind. Not a pleasant descent. Although delighted to have bagged 3.59:23. A "skin of your teeth job" ! Feet up now with a bottle of red & homemade chilli & sweet pot.

Got off lightly really. Bruised the outside of my thigh quite badly and have gravel rash on my elbow and a nice skin flap on my hand. Just the fall would have been ok. It was the combining it with cramp that really did me. The cramp still hurts now.

Bittersweet for me delighted to have done a pb of 3.51 with what felt like a so so performance 7 mins i think faster than last year. However gutted Paul Crabtree of Wharfedale who i can only usually beat on long ones pulled a blinder out of the bag and did an excellent 3.46. I was second club member also being beaten by Gary Chapman who did 3.47 2 weeks after the London Marathon.

I agree re comments about the wind on Whernside, I saw 2 go over it was pretty rough up there. Headwind also hard coming down Inglebrough - bit where we all stay high half way down was bad, should have gone onto lower path which was dry for a change. But as always a good day out

Windy doesn't quite cover it OHW ! It practically pushed you up Whernside, but then of course you turn left at the top & it becomes a side-on assault ! Not a cloud all day mind, so musn't grumble.

Eeek! Thought it might be bad but that sounds really windy! I was being blown around enough on the low lands of Nottinghamshire!

    Well done AS

That was Tim Midgley, I met up with him at Hill Inn where we both dropped out. He looked a fair state, fell chasing John Matt from Abbey Runners and cut both knees pretty badly and grazes etc. all over the place. It looked worse than it actually was I think.

I dropped out after twisting my knee at the foot of Whernside making the climb extremely hard work. I had to stop and sit down a few times on the way up and lost over a hundred places as a result. Tried to run it off on the descent and gained probably about 15 or so places back before having to stop on the tarmac road and walk to Hill Inn, I considered carrying on but doubt I could've made the climb up Inglebrough without serious problems and wasn't enjoying it at all anymore so pulled out

Well done to everyone else, good times AS and Jez
