I enjoy all the relays I've been involved with from the Pennine, FRA, to Mansfield XC Relays and the 12 & 6 Stage road relays. I think it's the team spirit, all pulling together and having generally a good day out with your club mates that makes them what they are.
Not sure there is a "best" as they all have their merits. Seeing Nick McCormick fly the last leg at Mansfield a few years ago when he was faster than Farah and took Morpeth from 6th to 1st on the last 5K leg was phenomenal.
That lad can move - 14:21 for 5K cross country.
Is the re-arranged Calderdale Way Relay in any danger of being cancelled with the moorland fires ?
We are struggling anyway to get our 2 original teams from December together. Holidays, other commitments and races.
Lost all its appeal to me this year.
Would have been better to cancel completely but i suppose they would have had to return entry fees then. Will look forward to December,
working this weekend but not too disappointed to miss it
I've been thinking the same thing myself. Isn't it on fire round Wainstalls?
To be honest I'm no longer looking forward to this event, our club team has been decimated by people dropping out due to other races etc. and now my partner for leg one also looks doubtful (he was navigating as I don't know the route) so I'm not sure what to do now. I think they should have just rolled entries over to next year and drawn a line under it this year. It'll surely be a major blow to have to cancel it twice though
it would be understandable if this had to be cancelled after all parts of moorland and open access land are been closed due to extreme fire risk!
Well I must be in the minority. Love this event and I'm looking forward to a good day out. Nothing better then a spring time run around Calderdale!
