Hi all
I've no idea what hit me; I felt strong but have been suffering from severe stomach trouble which started pretty much when I set off from Keswick and steadily worsened. I'll spare you the gory details except to say that I hope my involuntary marking of the route from Threlkeld to Helvelyn has been washed away by the rain.
I'm back at the B&B now. I've had nothing but water and a bit of Nuun since leaving Threlkeld where I only managed a couple of sips of soup and a small amount of tea. The stomach cramps are still with me but the other symptoms have been quiet since about 11:30 this morning.
Needless to say, I'm feeling weak, sore and somewhat sad.
I really hope Andrew and Linda are still going strong and get to that green door in time.
Thanks to Nee Bother and Brett for helping me off the hill, and to those who leant me clothes; I think mine were still somewhere up on Blencathra when I left Threlkeld.
Also thanks to Mrs Nee Bother for looking after me at Dunmail.
And thanks of course to everyone who came out to help with my round and those who have encouraged and supported me over the last 4 months or so.
Ho hum :boohoo:

Hard luck Stef. The good news is that before you try again you need to carry on the reccies which means more trips to the Lakes. It's not all bad?
So sorry to hear that. I sustained a minor injury & had an interesting and slow descent to threlkeld. Saw claire there and she was taking your kit to dunmail so hopefully it will get to you soon
Hi
I'm relieved to hear you're ok, I was a bit worried. I hope the injury doesn't cause you too much trouble. We could see a light coming down as we were climbing out of Threlkeld. I know Nigel was left behind. Do you know if he got down ok?
Ah no Stef, so sorry to hear that. Does not sound pleasant. That's so unfair, when you were so clearly ready fitness wise
It wasn't meant to be. It never occurred to me that I might fail due to anything other than fitness, injury, or poor weather conditions.
I've sought medical advice as I'm not getting any better and have added a nasty headache to my troubles. I've been advised that it's most likely to be a bug but could be food poisoning.
On the up side, I've met loads of really nice people through this and have had some wonderful days out in the hills; a reward worth having perhaps more than a sucess.
It's raining again in Keswick and the cloud looks low over the tops, I hope the others are ok.
