    Re: Today's Training

Good run in the Lakes today - started in Buttermere, up Red Pike and along to the Scarth Gap Pass, then down into Ennerdale and up the Black Sail pass, over Looking Stead and onto Pillar, back down the same way and over the Scarth Gap again into Buttermere. Rain stayed off most of the day, apart from going up Pillar. Slippy as hell on the rocks though.

I passed two other fell runners going up Pillar as I was coming down, I don't suppose they were forumites?

That's probably one of the fastest 'off-road' 10ks around Rob particularly with the towpath section, which I hated when I raced it 5 years back, but I'll happily run at training pace as I did a couple of hours before the race.....

Wednesday - 7.5 miles/1500ft in 75 mins on Chevin & Danefield - included the steps - best I've felt on them for a long while
Yesterday - 4.2 miles in 36 mins mostly out and back on the towpath from Rodley Marina towards AB then a quick loop up through the fields to Calverley & back along Rodley Lane.

Backwards progress again today as I only just managed to get round a 6mile 1300ft route before almost bonking on the last climb upto home. Don't know why just a bad day I suppose.

I enjoyed the canal section as I went out with a different strategy to normal. I set off steady and kept it feeling comfortable till I hit the canal, then I went for it and as a result overtook plenty of runners and ended the race feeling fairly chipper. I'll definitely be using that strategy again! Next time though I'll push on a little earlier as I think I could've been closer to 38mins if I hadn't held back so much. Enjoyed it though.

fell over when warming up for a tempo run on tuesday - felt hamstring "tweak" - was really sore for a few days but have woken up pain free. Want to train today but feel a bit nervous about risking it!!!!!

took a m8 up for a reccie of part of the Swaledale marathon route. Starting Langthwaite to Whaw, over Great Punchard toward level house and looping back round to Langthwaite. God awful conditions, lashing rain in strong winds and poor visibilty, enjoyable run out all the same wore tracksters which got soaked and as I didnt have any kegs on ive got some right chaffing !!
