    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Sounds like you had a good race Nik... wasm't aware of all those corners, yes, that does make a 10 a bit like a sprint fest :w00t:

I had another good track session this morning, pb-ing again, on the 500 m flying tt this time, so all is good in my world of being a wannabe sprinter

Daz, I rode a mates carbon bike the other day, he is wanting to sell it... and he is trying to convince me to buy it... we hadn't even left the yard and I wanted to change gear (it was in the biggest gear after transport in the back of the car) and the lever broke... I just clicked it in, like I do with my Shimano, and met with no resistance and the gear didn't change... Mate now says I broke it, I think it is 4+ years of wear and tear under his hands... Campag record, carbon stuff...

Surely he's not expecting you to pay for it? Was he present when it happened?

Just to slow the thread down a little

    23.5 mile 2hr 15mins Av sp 10.5mph

    3200ft of ascent.

Just used the gears and kept peddling, guess you could say it was a hilly ride.

No ride for me today. Been the dr's and I've picked up shingles again! Think I've caught it early enough that it won't wipe me out though.

Eavesy, yes he was there, riding my bike...

I tried changing gear, but it was Campag as supposed to Shimano, so when it didn't want to shift I asked him, does this shift differently? He said no, push the lever, so I said I did and nothing happened... so he said do it again... and the thing flicked right through... May have even been broken before I touched it... as I never got it to work.

He hasn't asked me to pay for it, but he wasn't too happy about it either. Last I heard from him was on Facebook chat, saying he couldn't repair it and had ordered some patch kit for it... and he hoped for me that he didn't have to buy new levers. Well, the bike is 5 years old and heavily used and raced on, I think if anything it is wear and tear. I really didn't break it... I have however offered to buy him dinner for all the hassle this is causing him... but haven't heard back. He's being a bit childish, moaning he was half a lap down on a race last week, as he had to ride his training bike :w00t: MEN!!!

Pah totally not the way to behave when you want someone to buy a frame from you.

    Hann,

Send it to Mercian Cycles. The good thing about Campag is that is repairable, whereas Shimano is largely break and throw,

Another car pulled out on me today, actually stopped and said she was sorry, she'd looked but didn't see me, saw her and half expected her to pull out so no harm done and an apology to boot, job was right.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

    Seriously hann
Campagnolo levers dont just break, they last a lifetime. The ratchet and the spring simply wears down thats all. You cannot break a lever by just flicking it. Before the lever broke you would simply snap the gear cable. Simple as.
So tell your man friend mr leverbeaver that mercian will refurb them for about 30 quid a lever as dom has posted.
Jeff the ergoman will tell you the same thing.

Whats up with the lad, a free dinner:thumbup:. Sounds to me like hes playing hard to get.
