Hurray, everybody is back! Lovely to see some original verse by the Reverand and Steve and I really liked your Frost choice Freckle, very passionate!

I'm glad that the erotic poems went down well. The book is called 'Passionate Hearts - The Poetry of Sexual Love'...going to have to check out Mossy's title!!

One more of the less explicit poems (to spare my blushes):

    First Night

    you came into my life
    with grace, giving me time
to want all of you. That
    first night I couldn't say
    whether your passion or
    your gentleness moved me
more, the way we took each
    other or how we talked
    till dawn, our brief sleep
    a ceremonial act
    in the strangeness of love.

Ha ha...you know how it is...spring has sprung and everything is verdant and lush, it can have a strong effect on an impressionable person!

    On a completely different note...

I'm doing some monoprints of hens and cockerels and I really like this poem:

    The Prize Bird

You suit me well; for you can make me laugh,
Nor are you blinded by the chaff
That every wind sends spinning from the rick.

You know to think, and what you think you speak
With much of Samson's pride and bleak
Finality; and none dare bid you stop.

Pride sits you well, so strut, colossal bird.
    No barnyard makes you look absurd;
Your brazen claws are staunch against defeat.

I'll lend you the book if you like! It could be like school again as the book gets passed around the fell poets. You probably missed the excitement caused by 'that' Auden poem a year ago....crikey, now that was rude!

    Body Heat

    Warmth of summer sun

Blades of grass to soon receive

    Bodies, skin to skin.

    Re: Today's poet

I think this is really quite wonderful and especially the final few lines.

    AFTER NEW HAMPSHIRE
    by Rosemary Klein

    Folded into each other,
    origami hearts, love
    knots. Each time
I never believe we will get any closer.
    Afternoon lowers
    her eyes as dusk
    steals across the vision
    of us, still touching.
    Silk light.
    Silk laughter.
    My body floods
    its boundaries.

    You hold me through
    each shudder, each
    moan, my head tucked
    into your chest, my legs
    wrapped around your body,
    my body filled with light,
    my body light. Past
    freedom and individuality
and the delight of my own
    opinions, beyond serenity
and rock n’ roll, there is
    happiness and I have found
    its natural habitat beneath
    your kiss and only
    in your arms.
    Am Yisrael Chai
