Rode the Dragon Ride in South Wales yesterday. I only completed the medium 70 mile circuit because my Dad and I missed the cut off! It would not have been a problem if we were slow but we had to queue for an hour and a half just to start so had no chance!!! Needless to say there were lots of annoyed cyclists at the route split. I was suffering with neck pain so I can't say I minded too much!
Out of the all the sportives I've rode over these three weeks the Dragon Ride was the most hyped up with thousands taking part. But I have to say it was the worst organised and the worst route (apart from the monster 8 mile climb). If you ever fancy a sportive ride the Tour of Wessex, it's much tougher and very well organised, the scenery is beautiful. The Midland Monster was a very good ride too.
No more sportives for me but my Dad's decided to donate his old training bike to me, 10 speed Campy on a Ribble frame so it's going to be miles a plenty especially hard paced 2-3 hour rides.
Hopefully all these miles will move me up out of the middle of the pack in fell races!
