Re. breaking: I don't wear out my brake blocks much... had a conversation about that with club members the other day. They were surprised that I haven't replaced the ones for my training wheels or racing wheels (carbon and alloy rims, so different block for the different wheels) since I got them 3 years ago... Still plenty of life in them yet!

HAnn - is it cos you never ride in the wet??

I am now a stone heavier (at half way)!

    Scan tomorrow.

Still bike commuting to station and back - considering a little ride after swimming this evening - will decide on how i feel after swimming and report back

Sorry, it wasn't... got those Mavic wheels in january 2009... so that is how long I have had the pads... I got the carbon dep section wheels summer 2009... and only use them for racing, which does sometimes take place in the wet. The Mavics get used in all weathers... I just don't brake very much I suppose LOL but I have to say that I didn't ride from the end of September till the beginning of February this year and that in winter I ride the track 3x a week and harldy ride the road at all IF I am not off injured...

Winter 2009 I spent running and training for Everest Marathon, so again, not on the bike from after Three Peaks til some time in February, as I got ill in Nepal...

I also ride a cyclocross bike in winter, which has had its brakeblock replaced very regularly!!!

On another note: I have recently started to pull my feet out of my Look Delta pedals...

I have done it three times now this week, in as many rides: once on the track, once in a TT (at the start) and once tonight, when sprinting for the village sign. Seems that whenever I use explosive power, I am pulling a foot out... I must have gotten stronger!

I have been told those Delta pedals are notorious for this so am now looking into buying nw pedals. Alas, I will need three sets, for track, road and TT bike... Any tips or hints or advice?

I think it is a toss up between Look Keo Blades and Shimano SPD-SL???

    oop exercise induced mignight feasting

did 25 minutes v. steady swimming (I atually can't do any other kind) - then about 25-30 minutes riding up to Ringinglow from the swimming pool - which is about 4 miles up - not too far, uphill but not too steep - felt fantastic. My fitness confidence was really low because when I cycle up another hill from the staiton after work (with now i come to think of it work bag) I feel pretty tired compared to "normal"

Hann will you need new shoes for yor new pedals - if you are buying 3 lots will bike shop let you test drive some??

    Any look keo pedals Hann.
The black cleats dont have any float
The grey cleats have a bit of float
The red cleats have a bit more float
In fact there are various options of floatyyyyyyness available at a wide range of prices
They do indeed therefore as cleats go provide everything that floats your boat.

Of course non of this information is any use if you dont regulary tighten the bolts up that hold your cleats onto your shoes.
That can be interesting sat at the side of the road fiddling with allen keys. Ah the joys of being a roadie.

With regards to the track if you're doing more serious sprint work like 500m tts and track sprints you'll want double toe straps not clippless pedals. But that means a different pair of shoes too.

Ten years ago when I was doing a lot of track riding no serious sprinters were using clippless pedals but technology could've moved on (I suspect straps are still involved somewhere)...If I were you I'd smile sweetly at Legro and ask him what he thinks!!!
