You'll never know all the hills of Hebden......I've come to the conclusion that the paths and trods of the upper Calder Valley are infinite - after 10 years of biking, walking, and running I still manage to find a new route/hidden wood/valley - just nipped out tonight and found a whole new descent from Pecket Well to Midge Hole - just in case there was slightly better line up to the War Memorial. Think I'll leave it alone (only 2 weeks to go!) - looking forward to few recces - fisrt one tomorrow (19.15 from White Lion Heptonstall).Originally Posted by joeyd

Eldwick is 3miles/550ft of ascent category BS race - £2.50 on the day (starts at 3.15pm). I thought I'd have a run out there (it's near Bingley which is nearish my in-laws) for what should hopefully a nice little loosener before heading over to Llangollen on Sunday for the Moel y Gamelin 9.5miles/2380ft of ascent category AM - £4 on the day. My rationale, perhaps misguided :closed:, is that it takes the family out to somewhere new and we see different bits of the lovely countryside Britain has to offer.
I know what you mean about never really knowing hills - I found myself popping out somewhere totally unexpected coming down off the moor over Bury the other week having taken a mate out for a run. I think I took the wrong trod cause we were involved in discussion about whether an 8 mile run in the morning was too much of a 'warm-up' before I went over to do the Great Hameldon (I went anyway and had a really good run despite signing in 4 minutes before the whistle went!)
Are you still thinking of going over to Borrowdale in August? (I saw on an older thread that you're entertaining thoughts of a CWR solo attempt! That'd make the Magnificent 7 seem like a warm-up stroll :wink:.)

Just heard about Calderdale Way Relay being permantently moved to May (boo!) - is it just me or does that ruin Christmas????
We'll have to find another team event for the winter - or set one up ourselves perhaps...?
What about the 7 Trigs relay!!! Standing Stone trig/Bridestone trig/Hoof Stone trig/Boulsworth trig/Crow Hill/ Alcomden trig/Stoop Stone/Cock Hill/High Brown Knoll/Sheepstones -would be cool but presume it would be a nightmare to get permission - wonder if we could just get 16 runners to make the Cross v Lion for an unofficial race? 8 per team, run in pairs, 4 legs; no entry/no numbers. Hand over points at Kebs/Widdop Road/Cock Hill. No marhsalls or CPs - just a trust based approach; Xmas party at the end. Now that sounds like an excellent idea. Can we have a baton to carry as well? If we did it as an unofficial Hurriers' Cross V Lion challenge then surely the only permission we'd need was which day eveybody's significant others thought would be best for it?
Judi said yes - so got my permissions - I'm sure a festive baton could be arranged

The closing date for Borrowdale is 10th July by the way.
Thinking on the stats for legs - widdop to cock hill would be a toughy - but definitely the best leg
