Despite cruelly not getting a call up, wrong club! I'm still going to race...
Hahaha!! saw the signs last night, same as when Cader signs are up here in Dolgellau a few weeks before the race the excitement gets going :-)
Really looking forward to it now though, despite the no call, but the build up and the set up is amazing and the buzz around Llanber is well cool, blast on the mountain and as you say the post race beer/dancing programme. Let get it on!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

    Re: Snowdon

This year I aim to use my own "steam" to get off the mountain and not use the train ;-)

IanR is right with the shoe selection - it was a dilemma for me last year - used the SpeedCross2's (which were fine until I fell - but they were not the reason...this time...that I fell)...they are now retired from fell races..

Went up last weekend (very dry) in Rocklite 315's and they were nice and dandy...but it's all down to personal choice.

this race is the reason why I started running again - so really look forward to this years race...the organiser's have worked really hard this year to attract an excellent line up..

    Re: Snowdon

Had been really looking forward to this till I got injured 10 weeks ago and it's been a long slow recovery :-(
Still hoping to be there though, I'd hate to miss it, though it's going to be a lot slower then I'd hoped for! Wore Roclite 295s last year as they were all I had and they were fine (actually, that's all I've still got). Going to need something with a bit more cushioning this year though so need to open my wallet before then :-O Thinking about the Salomon Crossmax as they seem to have some good reviews.......

Greg, I've just ordered a pair from Wiggle. Should arrive tomorrow. I'd never heard of them but ordered a pair after trying someone else's at a race last weekend. They felt unbelievably comfortable in a foot-shaped sort of way. By foot-shaped I mean symmetrical feet with a bit of forefoot width, which is more common than mainstream shoe manufacturers with their banana lasts would give us credit for. Added to that some amazing cushioning, courtesy of a padded insole, they would be ideal for hard dry trails.

Llanberis is a longer run in distance, time, and height gain, but much easier under foot. I'd say it's at least 10 minutes quicker than Llanberis.

BN - I think I'll order some. Sound ideal for some of my routes which mix road/trail/fell. Would you know how Salomon sizing comares to Inov8? My foot size is 8, but have size 9 Roclites and New Balance road shoes.
