    Re: Todays Bike Ride

60 miles for me earlier tonight.
    Resumed my climbing again
Crich, cromford up to black rocks, alport heights, drum hill and home.
Belper to duffield was a bit frantic. A lad with a gloucester cycling club kit was peering in the bike shop at belper, i passed by, he jumped behind me and what followed was flat out to duffield. We both took turns and was there in no time.
    Never seen him before.
A nice surprise riding up to drum hill. A horse and carriage set up in front of me so i stayed behind it. Never been paced up a climb by two horses and a carriage before. Cool.
Right i will watch the tour

    Sounds like fun Daz

I was paced last night by a tractor and trailer... He sat behind me for a loong time, then overtook me and was only going marginally faster than me... I was doing around 40 km/hr on a false flat down, hr at 150 ish... once I sat behind him, we were doing 45 km/hr and my hr dropped to 110, while I was pretty much freewheeling in his slipstream Cool, as I had to recover from a 1 minute sprint interval to do m y next 1 minute sprint interval Pity he turned off after about 5 miles!

This morning I did not fare so well... Got to the velodrome for my 7-9 training session. Once I got on the bike, the legs felt REALLY heavy and I felt generally unwell, but not something I could put my finger on. Felt brilliant last night and was fine this morning, allbeit a tad tired. Warmup was hard work, coach asked if I was ok... I said I was feeling a bit off. Then did a flying 500 and started shaking on the bikie, nearly fell off after the second lap :w00t: so got off the bike, whole body shaking feeling very weird. Had to hang on one of the chairs for about 20 minutes before I could get going again to lock up my bike and drive home. Got home, more or less collapsed on the bed and got woken 3 hours later by the electricty man wanting to read the meter... Ate a banana, drank some water and headed to work.

No idea what was wrong, feeling ok now, allbeit a bit 'heady' colleagues think either low bloodpressure and/or low salt... I am generally well hydrated and don't sweat that much... but been doing a fair few hard sessions lately, in which I do sweat, so maybe low salt is possible. Definitely been prone to low bloodpressure in the past, as my normal pressure is 70/110 anyway...

Circuit race tomorrow, two day stage race the weekend, been working hard for those... grrrrrrr... hope I will be ok for tomorrow!

Bloody hard ride this morning. Steady from my house up over the hill to the church inn in uppermill. 12 laps of the cross keys relay course (1.5m 275ft) alternating hard and easy. Freewheeled down to uppermill and easy to Greenfield before throwing in a hard circuit up tunstead and then up the isle of Skye road and back home.

Possibly, yes! Can't quite put my finger on it, but been told that drilling out a large amalgam filling, which contains mercury, can give you a general feeling of malaise, even though I called the dentist and he said it wasn't very likely to be related.

I am better now, after a lot of sleep, but still feeling a tad below par, but still hoping to do my circuit race tonight...

Buried myself this morning to get onto the back wheel of a guy in a team sky kit on the isle of sky road...must have had 3 minutes at Greenfield station and I caught him by binn green. Jibbed in on his wheel upto Holmfirth, then down the woodhead, mottram, stalybridge and back home

I hope you took your turns on the front Tom?

Still not 100% so decided against racing tonight... got some echinacea inside me and another early night, hopefully better tomorrow and fighting fit for my stage race this weekend!
