One wonders how the Thatch Ling bog is doing in advance of this year's race next Sunday - anyone been up there recently?

It's not too bad at the moment ... Or at least it wasn't last week. Rain is due later in the week so hopefully it will be back to it's best :-) a few people sinking in it may mean I'm not last!
Hey FD, weren't you telling me yesterday that Mudclaws wouldn't be required for this race???
Mate ... If the bog is on form mudclaws won't help .. Wellington boots might do ... It's only a short bog you can tip toe over it at speed if you need to! .... If I wasn't off to the lakes I'd take you round the course one evening this week .. Why don't you go for a recce on your way home from work. Route is very simple! Personally I'd go for something in-between claws and trail shoes .. Just make sure they don't hold water ... If it rains the path from the grouse huts at the bottom of the hill to the wood can have some 'streams' to run through.
I was up there a couple of weeks ago and it was very dry. Trail shoes would be better than all-out fell if it's like that. In fact, I'll probably go with trail shoes even if the rain this week is quite heavy. The bog isn't too big and there's a lot on paths.
I was up there last night. It's slippery in places (especially on the bracken) but not too boggy. We're due heavy rain before Sunday though.
Hi All,
I decided to have a very quick kit change at the start of todays race and took my Helly Hansen off to just run in my vest. I hung the Helly in a tree near the start that seemed popular with other runners shedding kit.
I completely forgot it after the race does anyone know any forumites involved with the organisation of the race that might be able to return the top.
Many Thanks
Jamie
Results, a short report and photos up very quickly on the Otley AC website

Cheers to the organisers - and a really nice bottle of Copper Dragon Best for all finishers... lovely!
Yes, thanks to Otley A.C. for that - a grand little run. Everything I'd been told about the boggy nature of this race turned out to be true ... highly entertainingThat Copper Dragon is lovely ale, I had a drive out to Pateley after the race and had a pint in the George. Felt it only right to drink my freebie bottle when I got home, it compares well with the draught version.
