Have any of you guys done any Barefoot running around Edale ?. If not have any of you tried any other runs near Sheffield as i am open to any suggestions run wise.
Forget the Vibrams, Hobbit Harriers are coming!
On a serious note i'm finding myself drawn to trying out some Inov8 baregrips.
As CCR says go for it, Steve. They are great to run in although the tops are made of something akin to paper. If they could just toughen the uppers they'd be perfect. Although not as aggressive a stud as the mudclaw I find them comparable going down grassy, muddy stuff
..."akin to paper"...
...A bit harder wearing, I would hope.
I'm wanting to get some midfoot/barefoot shoes, just for occasional trail use to get used to the different footstrike, but I can't find any on sale anywhere!
I want to try them on first, so I don't want to go down the mail order route. The only ones I've seen anywhere are the Baregrips.
Done it, first run in em today. 5 Miler, excellent grip going up and down steep grassy banking, it was raining as well. Nearly managed to keep up with the dog downhill! £70 from sportsshoes in Bradford.
Impressed with first outing, seemed to run faster, may be my imagination though.
If it's just for occasional trail why not try the Merrel trail gloves? Haven't tried them myself but those who have give good reports. I think the grip of the bare grips may be wasted on trail. Or Talon X or 195's? Neither as minimal as the baregrip but if it's just to get used to the different footfall might be ok. Or VFF's. Depends on what you're wearing now. I transitioned very slowly over about 18 months but now wish I'd gone a bit faster.
