    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Ooh spotted some pics of you Em. I went out mon eve for the longest feeling 6 mile ride, all up hill out to the peak from shed (to pick up by climbing husband), all into head wind of doom! Been in Chippenham for work for a few days, only exercise to be had swimming some tight circles in worlds tiniest hotel pool this morning.

Well, that should teach me training with te pro's :w00t: 5 hours solid, no stop at all, in the Mendips, riding hills at some breakneck speed... Then coach tells me to go out again tonight :w00t:

But needed to buy food, go home, cook it, eat it... by which time it was 7.45 and too late... He will be disappointed, but my legs are relieved!

Thats why pros dont have jobs and imagine doing that what you have every day all day.Your body will fall to bits if you dont recoup. And you cannot eat enough to recover.I tried doing a huge week once which involved big mileage. By the friday i was in a mess. You have to make a big commitment to recover correctly. And that doesnt mean a cafe stop for a fry up.Le metier

It was VERY WET Ratfink. I was going to ride from Fell Foot ( Bowland FR's traditional meet for Wednesday training in summer ) on one of the challenge rides. It wasn't just the rain, but the wind; the van was rocking. So I decided to drive across the Hodder Valley to Edisford Bridge, just to give Keith a shout ( 2.5 laps of a 4 mile circuit ). When I arrived, it was still heaving down but a lot less windy than at FF and I rode 2.5 laps in the opposite direction to the TT and was able to give Keith a shouts on 3 occasions. Everyone was a minute or two slower than usual; tough conditions.

It is indeed a big commitment Daz... I have been training hard and when I have a day off, go out with the pro's. Love it, but hard to combine with a full time job though... Coach is good though, makes me work hard, but stresses recovery as well as proper food. I eat mountains! Currently going throug about £100 of food a week, on my own :w00t:

70 minutes on the rollers for me with absolute 80's on the iPhone - cool! Even managed to clean the bike too.
