If everyone made a point of volunteering to help out at least at one event a year RO's might have enough marshals to enforce the rules

If small amounts of weight difference don't have an effect, why would Inov8 include the weight of their trainers in their name, and why would 'lightweight kit' be such a big deal? Seems odd to say that it basically has nothing to do with gaining an advantage.
Let us be clear about one thing- inov8 put numbers after the name of shoes so that they can release an almost identical pair of shoes in a different colour with a new number beside it, content in the knowledge that all us numpties will feel the need to splash the cash for the latest shoe....as if it will make the slightest bit of a difference. If u ask me, I'm surprised that they don't name a shoe after every fell race on the calendar and b done with it! I mean, u couldn't possibly race Borrowdale in a pair of inov8 Duddon when the Inov8 Borrowdale 285 is available. Come to think of it, we couldn't even use the Inov8 Borrowdale 285 when the Inov8 Borrowdale 265 is available! We re all a bit gullibe as proved by the original enquiry about Inov8 labelling their shoes with the weight! KK

But, as we both know, Scott Fitzgerald wrote that "the test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function".

Was it not Fitzgerald who also said "Quod homo sit formidolosus ipsum" in his book "Adsit, saevum et aura".

That you can have all the kit in your bumbag and it be very small and that Ive followed runners with no kit ( ie no bum bag).
The 3 rd part isnt my posting.

If its your post Miss July and your struggling to zip the bumbag up. Just do what I do and put a tie wrap on each of the zips. It makes it easier to zip up when full.

    Re: DQ the cheats

Personally I don't really care if people carry the kit or not. I think they should but its their choice. I'll always make sure I take what I feel is appropriate to help keep me safe on the fells and if I'm in a race, I'll carry what the ROs ask me to. I would also like some 'It's Monday, it's raining and i can't be bothered to run to work, drag me out of BedClaw, 195's please although I don't need to run to work as I work from home so just the 'INOV8, its Monday, its raining drag me out of bedlites 265s' would probably be sufficient (nice idea Steve)

(ps I often get asked if I have the kitchen sink in my OMM bumbag...its just my rather heavy kit because I can't afford the microscopic waterproofs and my peanut butter and banana sandwich)
