Hmm, I can't open it either - I obviously messed that one up. Here it is again. See the conifer standing alone to the right? That's your target, but follow the discoloured bracken to it.

Spot on Martyn. Made a hash of this last time, went way right, and the descent was a horror show.

Final recce this afternoon, the photos meant that My brother n' me had a relatively stress free descent from Blisco to Blea Tarn, thanks again for them Martyn.
Just praying now for a bit of decent weather on race day.

A pleasure, it's always nice when someone else benefits from my mistakes. Did I mention I took those photos on my second attempt???

im guessing that you were out of the group i stoped and asked for the route down to blea tarn bridge before you headed up lingmoor today if so thanks again saved me getting wet!
if it was you n your group is it not better to accend lingmoor via trod between wall and beck or way you went on right side of beck up col?

Yes, that was me/us - glad we saved you getting wet As far as the ascent up Lingmoor is concerned, well, good question. We were playing a bit of "follow my leader" there and although the ascent via the right hand side of the beck wasn't horrible and we connected to the wall line eventually, it might be better to stick to the wall from the start. That's the way I will be doing it on race day.

For Wetherlam, you keep that juniper on your left yes? The ascent on Saturday was better than the recce I did a few weeks before, seemed less rocky, though it still gets a bit gnarly towards the top and I have to wonder if there was a way round that misses the zig-zag miners' path towards the summit .... in any event, I reckon on the day we'll be able to follow the flattened bracken! I noticed that a lot of it was starting to go brown at the edges, it's starting to die back I think.

Hope your ankle improves for the race. I went for a jog around Coniston/Dow crag yesterday and wish I hadn't, everything feels very tight and clunky. Will take it easy this week, I think.

Just looking at the website http://www.amblesideac.org.uk/3shires_2011.htm and noticed that hat and gloves are kit requirements. Just thought I'd flag that up after participating in the mad dash for Pete Blands van at the PPP this year, and reading the heated threads about mandatory kit checks and dq-ing the cheats on this forum.
