Many thanks to all at RHAC and their supporters for excellent help and encouragement.

I may stick to the 23 / 36 bracket in future :closed: but ... i've done it and no-one can take it from me.

I`ll blog my experience in a day or so.

Congrats to Nick on his Vasque Grand slam

Well done to all, participants and organisers/helpers, and to the other Grand Slammer Greg Crowley, who's much much faster than I am. Nevertheless I was pretty delighted with my 9:14, which was just 1 minute outside my PB of two years ago.

This event never fails to delight, and the trails and scenery are improving year by year. Mid-October sun tan conditions certainly helped with the enjoyment too.

Well done Mike. That was a good time. Don't worry about slowing or suffering in the latter stages. It always happens. It's the nature of the beast. I blame the runnability of the course.

I've posted my pictures. They tailed off towards the end because I was getting competitive with myself.

Well done Nick- glad you made your grand slam and a decent time too.
Thanks for the sympathy and encouragement when you plodded with me in Rother Valley Park.
I will be very interested to see my splits- suspect they will confirm what I know- set off too fast so fast first 10, awful next 10 and then good again towards end. It did not feel good for lots of the way although the weather and company were superb and I did shave 20 mins off last years time. The area did not seem anything as grim as I recalled and not having the police helicopter buzzing for hours in the night helped me get a better sleep.
    Excellent event with superb marshals.

I don't call myself ultraploddernick for nothing, Karen. Your depleted plod equals the best I can muster when on PB form. :w00t: I knew things must have gone bad for you when I caught up with you and you were struggling to run. (I've had many a low point by the time I reach that stage but this year I seemed to keep on a pretty even keel throughout.) Although it was a rare treat to chat with you for a few miles during a race, the circumstances were less than ideal. I was amazed at your comeback when I spoke to you after I'd finished. Well done with that impressive result. I hope your hip is not telling you off too much now.

Well done Nick for your slam, and to Karen for Series 2nd Lady. And everyone else who got round the 50 miles. Also, though he didn't run at Rotherham, to MountainMan for winning the M60 by a country mile or so. Next year, I won't be coughing all autumn, or that's the plan anyway. So maybe I'll manage to finish 4 events...not necessarily including Rotherham.

Had a trot yesterday morning over micklebring to hooton roberts section couldnt see any footprints whatsoever considering amount of people that passed that way satdy really suprising , it's either testimony to fleet footed runners or really firm ground cos usually those fields can be really heavy going.

Did you go wrong? You started in front of me, but finished after me. I don't remember seeing you anywhere on the course.

I was quite pleased to knock 40 mins off last year's time, but the 8 hour mark still remains tantalisingly just out of reach after 7 attempts.
