Can I remind runners about Rule 14:
"This is a bridleway and you may encounter horses and cycles on the route. Please slow down and give way and take extra special care around horses. Please show care and respect for other users."
As a check point marshal on this event, I have had to deal with two incidents, where runners have passed horses without slowing. On the first occasion the horse bolted, very fortunately without throwing the rider, who nevertheless was very badly shaken. On the second the rider maintained control but quite rightly complained about lack of consideration.

It always surprises me that this has to be stated over and over again though, when you open a gate you close it afterwards, simples.
