This all takes me back 25 years to the infighting (please excuse the pathetic pun) in the karate world.
Very similar arguments, ended up I left that sport and took up running

    deja vu ........

But I'm older and wiser now, can still enjoy the hills (no organisation can take that away) don't live for races, and sod everyone

Perhaps enough is enough....? maybe it's time to put this particular child to bed again.... and spend energy on "fell" running.... organising... assisting... enjoying.... contemplating (quietly)...that funny thing, which touches, something special inside our tiny heads…. which, we are so so very lucky to be able to enjoy....
maybe that's too simple... guess that's why we have a committee, that mostly we go with & often ignore.... which, is why we enjoy what we do....
Time to give this a good long rest… there are much better things, to do, and care for…

    EG… Cotton Grass Planting etc….?

(and the long debate and the vote and and and and and.... and those prosaic & testy Skylarks over Big Stone said it all... my vote will always be with them)

That statement demonstrates a very narrow view of fell running and may explain why the FRA has failed to extend its control over other aspects of the same sport.

Wowee!! – This thread’s come an awful long way since wee Ronnie let that wee snivveling genie out of his whisky bottle all those weeks ago.

Come on, you guys, you’re beginning to sound like the Scottish Conservative party - both of them still wondering what happened in 97!!! Wakey, Wakey!!

And even the Right Honerable Fixtures Secretary seems to be anxious to prove how happy she is to be so way out-of-touch with the vast majority of the people she represents!

If you folks have a problem with democracy, just try fell running – works for me every time!.

YT unless you would like the onerous task of fixtures secretary I suggest you keep stum on critisism in that direction !!

Re: Letter to the FRA Chairman

Everytime someone critices anyone on the Committee, someone pipes up with something along the lines of, "You're not on the committee, so you can't criticise the committee."

I don't know why doing something voluntarily affords you god-like status amongst some people, but it definnitely shouldn't. Perhaps the positions should be paid, so that the actions of the committee can be viewed objectively by all?

There's a huge (!) gap between being awarded 'god-like' status and expecting a bit of respect for ones efforts!

There's such a thing as constructive debate and constructive criticism and then there's another thing that feels more like bullying or an effort to create an "us & them" situation as though the members of the committe weren't just fellrunners like everyone else, who've for some reason decided to input a bit extra into the sport...

Not a bad idea – I’m very tempted. I think I’d do quite a good job too!

Though why you would want to swap one grumpy old woman who doesn’t much care for UKA for another grumpy old woman who doesn’t much care for UKA I don’t know!
