    It seems to have lost 4 miles or 6.4km which ever way you want it, am certain that it was about 12miles, now only 8ish....
    Maybe someone moved the hill closer to the start???

    Same distance and climb now as Ovenden so as Allan Greenwood organises both its probably a typo when he was sending the info in?

    Think Alan meant to take the middle section of the route and add it to the end of the Ovenden race so big confusion all round

    The climb and descent will not go nearby the White House pub. Instead it is the path marked on the map running across Chelburn Moor, meeting the Pennine Way near Uttley Edge. That accounts for the route being shortened by four miles.

    Very soon after the start you turn off up a rough track which takes you over a stone bridge. There are yellow posts in the ground marking the path over the moor.

    What a sensible reason for the race being less than previously!! :wink: Much prefer the idea that someone had stolen 2 miles of land, moved it out in the dead of night so suddenly the race was smaller. Or maybe instead of running around the water at the top, you had to swim across it, hence the need for full kit, when it says it is mandatory maybe there was going to be a surprise and the mandatory kit was in actual fact a wetsuit or a canoe!!
    Ho hum, I'll keep on dreaming.....

    Re: White Holme Circular race

    Anyone doing a recci of this new route will find that it is advantageous to STAY close to the yellow topped posts RIGHT TO THE VERY TOP-MOST ONE on both the outward AND return routes. They are there for a reason - to guide you along the trod over what is a really rough patch of moor. To cut a corner from the Pennine Way to join the trod (on the return route) would probably be much slower over such rough tussocky ground, with a risk of possible injury.

    You have been warned!

    Visit the 2012 fixture list and note the rider... "New route for 2012. MUST bring full waterproof whole body cover. NO KIT - NO RUN".

    Map HERE... http://www.flickr.com/photos/ainley-...in/photostream

    Lastly, following last years event;
    Read the report @ post 589 on here.
    Link HERE http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...ar-race/page59

    No windproof - one very distressed runner - one rescue vehicle dispatched - one worried organiser - I do not need this hassle.
    Please just bring the kit.

    See you there, Allan G
