I felt rubbish for the first hour really struggled. Had a better second half and seemed to pick it up after the initial climbs to the tops.

Well done Jamie, glad you're going well. Thanks to the organisers, I enjoyed it today: getting going after a bit of a rest. Good to see Geoff B taking it easy. I think Emma gave him a piggy back up to Swine's Back.

I was debating whether to wear a vest or helly today. Glad I went for just the vest.

Made quite a change for me to be watching rather than competing. In between watching the runners, Emma & I managed to plant a couple of hundred new cotton grass plants - should help to stabilise some of the peat, hopefully.

Not sure why they asked us to pass tot he right of the swines back - meant I ended up tramping across some of the new plantings...

What surprised me was that after the first dozen or so runners followed the paved path from Kinder Low round to Edale Cross, almost everybody else came across the rough peat, heather & bilberry (apart from a couple of runners who tried to go straight down Kinder Low End - Slippery Stones?, not sure, now). There is no question that the racing line is to stick to the paved path; even in the wet it is very fast.

could have been me...not sure as most of the race was a bit hazy....lessons learnt:
A, dont drive up to the lakes on friday afternoon to support the first leg of the BG, and then drive straight home afterwards
B, dont then expect to run ok at the kinder trog on sunday....you are not an elite runner
