I can most likely do 23rd March. Will have to wait to a little nearer the time to sort my rota for the rest of the week.

So that's Friday 24th February and Friday 23rd March in the diary then.

I should be OK for these next recces - at least I hope so. Did a little 9 mile jog on the trails and mud around the back of Swinsty/Timble today and my leg felt alright, it's running on roads that messes me up :-(

I have a question for those who went on Friday: Did you feel the need for/use microspikes/yaktrax etc? Helen bought me some Yaktrax as a little Christmas prezzie and I've never used them. They fit on my Roclites OK, but I can't say I would fancy doing lots of miles in 'em.

That sounds like a plan. Scafell via LR/WWT then back via Foxes for a bit of variety??

Didn't need anything on Saturday - very soft snow. It may well be more hard packed now.

No, we didn't really need any further grip than fell shoes. The snow was mostly between 6 inches and 1 foot deep....with the odd 2 - 3 feet occasionally.
Hank was telling me that if there had just been a slight covering of snow (and ice) then they would've been perfect.

    Re: Legs 1 & 2 recce Fri 27th

So, are we still on for this leg 3 recce on Fri 24th? I just booked the day off and feel the need to get back out there - my tib.post injury is much improved and it's about time I gave it a bit of a test. Just to reiterate, was the plan to meet in Langdale and then out to Scafell and back? The obvious route that springs to mind is to follow the Langdale Horseshoe route up Dungeon Ghyll and then head directly for Harrison Stickle and onwards. If we really want to take in the BG route proper, we could go bit further round Stickle Tarn on the LH route and start at Thunacar Knott.

I suppose on the return leg we could come back down Rosset Ghyll from Esk Hause or back over Bowfell, down to Three Tarns and then The Band. I only say that because I hate that long descent down Rossett Ghyll!

I'm sure there are better suggestions out there. Thoughts?
