Nice little 5 1/2 miler - head torcher. Are you on good form? How's the marathon prep going? Not long til London now! Have you got a target time in mind?
Getting plenty of distance in (27 on Sunday) but not enough medium / tempo - so its a road 7 miler for me tomorrow. Heptonstall Recce 15 pacey miles this Sunday will be perfect; I need to do a fast loop as I'm needed for domestic duties soon after. Jedi wants me to do Dent half as a test on road the week after (tempted) that should give me some idea if I'm going to get a sub 3.15 marathon in April........or is there still chance of a place in the Hobble????

Trig, which marathon are you doing in April? If it Manchester I will be in Timperley cheering you on. If it is London no!

London; dam! Would nt normally be myfirst choice as a marathon as its a bit too big, over-hyped, commercial, with reduced chance of good times. (I have done Florence for last 7 years). That said Jedi and Kate are in so we should have a great weekend. I was offered a rare "club entry" last month and jumped at it; I had an injury so my Florence time in November was 3.24 (about 10min below target) so its an opportunity to get back on track.

Just got some good news for March 18th - drum role......COPPER DRAGON are supporting the race this year and will be donating 80 pints, and 40 bottles!!
The keg will be on sale (as fell race special) - all proceeds to Mountian Rescue/Scouts/Church. The bottles will be handed out as prizes to ???????? (will CVFR clean up again????)

Thats me as a definite entry! - may even make the recce on Sunday yet, but don't hold yer breath, got loads on at the minute! Can you hand a beer prize out for the first MV40 from Trawden AC called Chris, theres a good fellow  . Mind you I'd probably still not win that either

I did London last year, it was a great experience, I would pick up a chance of a place at the drop of a hat! I knocked 23 minutes off my time in Palma 6 months later, but I think that was because I wasn't running much at the beginning of the year due to injury. I didn't feel the congestion got in my way. It sounds like you will have a good weekend.

Like it! Would be good to see you at the recce on Sunday - might give you the edge to beat-off your rivals to take first Trawden MV40 - and the new first Trawden MV40 prize category.
Will the scud-mobile be turning up a day early in the camping/parking field???

I've put my expected time down as 3.10hrs (in 2001 it was 4hrs) so that should see me clear of the masses.
I reckon this training plan of repeated Heptonstall 15 mile recces is going to pay-off; it might be a bit shorter, but London lacks a 500ft ascent to the finish line and there's far fewer tussocks.
    What was your time BTW???

It may well do. To be honest, it depends how soft the ground is. If its firm enough it may be enough to tempt me out again, I'll try and stay off the booze this time....or maybe not!

I've done London twice - the last time being in 2006 in 4.32 and a bit. I enjoyed the event but have found I favour the lower key events now. My best time stands at 3.18 from Windermere in 2011 now. I've got my sights set on the sub 3.15 (maybe even 3.10) for the autumn though. Have you done Chester or Liverpool?

Is it just me, or does being fell runner give you a psychological advantage at road races?
