Morining Ady - its now clear (guess who has been spending too much time on his forum posts of late!)
Hope you spotted the new improved race map - map here; http://www.heptonstallfellrace.org.u...aceMap2012.pdf
Ideal for SPORTS SUNDAY photographers:thumbup:
Trig,
Does that new racemap cover the route changes - I think there's a bit to avoid some rain damaged path, and a couple of other spots? Or is that fine detail that will be flagged on the day?
Hope you get to enjoy a beer on the day and aren't too busy doing organisery stuff!
I knew you would finally sucumb to the flyer and forum onslaught! Did I see you on Sunday in Haworth??? Sounds like the Hobble was a big success (great timing to get the race history in Fellrunner) - quite a few of the Heptonstall organisers were hobbling on Sunday just in case their race day roles stop them running on 18thI heard Heptonstall might be a featured K&C club race?????[/QUOTE
Yes it is the first of our Extreme Champs - the others being 3 Peaks and Great Lakes. They'll be a few of us there. We tend to stand out...I was marshalling on CP2. Had a great day. Didn't envy the runners at all - it's just too far! 15 miles is more my kind of distance, or so I like to kid myself. Will find out this Sunday...
Hi JBF; Copper Dragon have provided 80 pints and 40 bottles so it would be rude not too. Helps ease the stress of organisery stuff.
The map is correct but the route changes are really hard to plot as they are so minor/in valleys
Luckily all of the 3 changes will be flagged, the details of the changes are;
Ascent out of Colden Woods; (GR970283) wider path to avoid bottle necks, follow old winding quarry track, to an alternative exit stile from woods to field (will be flagged)
Walshaw Dean; (GR964336) Use short cut from jeep track to cattle grid onto Pennine Way, near Walshaw Dean Lodge just before dam (used by some runners last year)
Crimsworth Dean (GR989 302) Safer path down to the iron railings in Crimsworth Dean (the muddy bank route has suffered from heavy winter rainfall)
Oh and I found the timer rolls! Thanks for the tip off!
So that officially makes Heptonstall "Extreme" - excellent!!! Lets hope the weather does nt add to that rating....
I popped in to see Brett on Sunday at HQ - was nt sure who the other K&C organisers were (but I guess you were nt among them if at CP2)
Looking forward to seeing the K&C colours out on Sunday - team prizes could be up for grabs as some of the usual suspects may be recovering from Lads Leap - although it is only "short", so it should nt stop a few doing both. See you in the pub!

I know you'll be one of the first back to the bar Jedi...perhaps helping CVFR defend the team prize (ie Copper Dragon)
Looking at the forecast we could see a snowy start (yes snow) but brighter later - so the mandatory kit is for good reason - not to mention to avoid disqualification (suggest everyone prints the pdf map from http://www.heptonstallfellrace.org.uk/route)
Mandatory;
Map
Whistle
Compass
Full Body Cover (shower/water proof)
Hat
Gloves
A bottle of water and energy food / gel would be highly recommended - Heptonstall Post Office will be selling Jelly Babies and other sugar based sundries (plus a useful, free to use cash point) Tony is opening up the PO counter specially for the race.....although there might be a traditional PO queue
So if Jedi's turning out for CVFR we just need 2 more fast guys and you might win some beer....Lads Leap is only 5 miles...:thumbup:

So is emergency food just recommended rather than mandatory? Do energy gels count as emergency food?
Hi WJB - yes well spotted - I think the website might suggest that food is mandatory (gels would count) - but the critical gear is the usual map/whistle/compass/hat/gloves/full body cover; I'm not going to bother correcting the website as the food is very good idea both for performance and safety
Will we be seeing few Ilkley vests on Sunday?
