Water-wise, I had 330ml with me and had two cups at Hope and Mam Nick and that seemed to be plenty enough. I had been drinking water solidly the day before to make sure I was as hydrated as possible though.
Not me, I think you were the guy with the natural feet shoes?

Great photos Glen. I am impressed by how strong the runners appear to look.

'tis John Dalton who should take all the credit for rapid production of results. He's the reason that DPFR has such an amazing website and on the day used software he wrote for his own hathersage race. I think if there was internet at the village hall he could produce them online in realtime!

Thanks to all on here for your kind words for the Marshals and helpers, they did all do a great job! Glad everyone enjoyed the race, I did too.

I've updated the pages at http://www.dpfr.org.uk/pages/3 with a short report. I'd welcome specific feedback (good and bad) to skyline (at) dpfr.org.uk

Just as a note.... I came across a prediction for how long it would take me to get around Skyline so Lynne knew approximately when I would get around to her... as it turns out, it was pretty bang on. Does anyone else make approximations before races? I've never done it before and was surprised at the accuracy.

(after I wrote out the table I forgot about it until I came across it just now, so I wasn't actually following timings in any way, shape or form), thought you might be interested....

    Re: Edale Skyline 2012

I do this kind of thing for most races
if I've never done the race before, I look at the previous year's results and (knowing roughly how far down the field I tend to finish at different distance/severity races) I pick out a rough time (usually a bit higher, to give me a tough target!)
I then map the route, split it into sections (usually ups, downs and flats), estimate my time for each section, then tweak them so they come out totalling what I expect/target
I write the splits on a small piece of paper and glance at them on the way round to help with pacing
    they're usually pretty accurate

then I've got actual/personal splits to review/tweak/revise downwards to provide an improved target for future year(s)...

Great video. I wasn't there but intend to be next year after all the positive feedback... if you guarantee the conditions seen here...

Even more frustrating than not being there, Carl put in three impossibly quick legs in the annual club relay event the day before, and passed me and everyone else from the back in the main fell leg. Taking a blatantly illegal shortcut through a wall in the Howgills didn't get me anywhere near, and I dread to think what he could do if he prepared for these races in a 'proper' manner. Hope you read this Mr Bell...
