does that mean there is yet another short cut from scafell pike - as the route i took was a short cut and dominion has told me that the route from the col was the longer alternative. I'm confused and this has been praying on my mind all day now! I'm gonna have to go up there to check it out.

I'd be up for a recce as well. Weekends are pretty full between now and August but I reckon a midweek day would be a possibility....and impending redundancy means I could sneak the day off to go "job hunting"

I can't go week days after the 19th as the dreaded summer holidays have started and my nervous twitch will have resurfaced!!

(can go weekdays before at a push though - need plenty of warning to sort sitters!)

over 7 hours!! lots of stops though and rescue missions!
