I completed my first Fellsman this weekend after months of mental anguish and apprehension, almost paralleled by the brutal physical conditions encountered during the event. Like many I've been inspired to put my experience into words: http://speedybrown.blogspot.co.uk/

I've followed this thread with interest and wholeheartedly agree that the organisers had an impossibly tough decision but made the right call. I would like to think that if I had been withdrawn I'd have understood and accepted it. Thankfully our group managed to maintain a reasonably decent pace over Buckden Pike and Great Whernside, especially on the descents, but the wind and associated chill factor were pretty severe even before midnight.

I would just like to say that from my point of view the event was impeccably organised and all of the checkpoint marshals, mess tent staff and many other volunteers were all amazing and friendly which really helped get everyone around. Big thanks to one and all!
