Well done once again to Simon Bailey. I don't know how he does it, but I have my suspicions.... not teleporting, more along the lines of irn bru and weetabix.
Obviously not ugali.:closed:
Nice speedy blog Z, entertaining as ever. Have a good CR tomorrow.
Was my first MtF race, started gently (after Woodbank and not knowing course) and at the top of Elle bank, I was wondering what all the hype was about.
But I hadn't tightened the laces of my Walshes enough and had to stop a couple of times on the muddy decents when the right one got sucked off. Anoying. Lesson learned. A race with no tedious flat bits. My altimeter shows that the only flat section was the stile atop Mt. Famine .
I have decided, however, that it would take an awful lot of packets of ugali to put a dent in this race. Maybe an iron-bru and weetabix party next year.
A big shout to the RO, marshalls, etc - especially welcome was the encouragement from the marshalls at the extremities of the course (chap on the decent before the red flags, and the two folk at the bottom of Dimpus. Sorry I didn't recognise you - my eyes were streaming with tears in the wind). My pacing from there was good though, but although I pulled away a minute ahead of the group I was with after the final climb, the group further ahead were doing likewise to me, so I was very much on my own in the final 10 minute run-in alog the dragon and road.
PS - It was good to see lots of Pennine out running in the buff! Spurring them on to both M & L team prizes. Well done.

Nice impromtu challenge Timothy, and thanks for the lift in your chariot to Woodbank+Hayfield.
It was very pleasant to be behind your arse at Woodbank for only one-third of the time that you were behind mine at Mt. Famine!
Shame we were not quite quick enough to fit in the Bollington too. More training required.:w00t:
WellI risked it and now feel like a hardened fell runner - not done a short race for a while and this was an absolute killer, and yes I felt sick!
Thank you OB for reassuring my husband I was on my way, he had told me all week that this was a tough one and I had accused him of exaggeratingThere was also a fantastic Dark Peak runner who kept me going for a while, at least no one lied and told me it was "all downhill from here"!
Great race though and thanks to the organisers and marshalls and the lovely cake afterwards. I think i might need my memory wiping of that last hideous climb if I return next year.....
