Don't worry Steve, I'll gee Daz along if he needs it. Daz, I'm sure you'll do the same for me if/when I need it. I'll just give it my best like I always do and see what happens. That strategy usually produces a successful outcome.

I'm feeling good after a successful Brecon Beacons 40 a couple of days ago. My pace seemed to be so slow I was expecting an over 10-hour finish. Strangely I picked up in the final third, which included a climb of THAT corner up Cribyn and one of the world's longest descents back towards the finish. The final 14 miles became my time to do the overtaking instead. I surprised myself to finish comfortably under 9:30. Hopefully that will translate into a sub-11 finish at OCT if we can keep things in control?

You're a monster, Brit Nick. How many miles have you done so far this year?
I was all geed up for doing this myself, but with my partner droppping out I've decided to take the opportunity to cultivate some good-will at home and accrue some brownie points to cash in later in the year.

Funnily enough, I was going to add a PS to my previous post observing that it's about now that the first cataclysmic weather "forecasts" should get posted.

Is there anyone still looking for a partner for this? I was entered, then swapped my place with a friend due to injury. Injury recently fixed, but wasn't sure of my hill fitness...did a 22 miles OCT recce on Saturday and felt reasonably good. I'm not the fastest and will no doubt be close to the cut-offs.

Daz, no emailing or defection took place. Are you sure you didn't 'doctor' the form before posting it off? I have a dilemma now. Which vest to take? It'll be irrelevant by the sound of it anyway because it will be hidden beneath survival gear. Oh joy.

I didn't know any food or water was offered on this event. I thought it was all self sufficient. Isn't it?

It's got to be better than the heat in 2010, which was my first fell race. Have I mentioned that before? ;-)
Anyway, it's a good chance to escape from the Mrs on our 22nd wedding anniversary. The weather can't possibly be as hostile as she is :sneaky:
