    You get a reasonable porch with the Photon but the Photon 2's porch is only 25cm deep. I haven't had to cook in mine yet but I'm dreading when I do as it seems like the stove would be awfully close to the outer.

    Try a small solid fuel stove (there's one on the market that weighs 11g!) and some solid fuel... much lighter and less bulky than a gas stove and much less likely to burn your tent down in the event of a porch-based mishap!

    I bought one of those from the Compass Point shop over the weekend out of curiosity (not much else to do on the friday night!), but I thought they gave off a lot of fumes?

    A bit, but I think so long as you're using it in the porch with some ventilation you should have no bother. From memory the Esbit blocks are much better than some I've used in terms of fumes. I've used this set-up for my last few mountain marathons and no way would I go back to gas.
