Would loved to have done this race. Walked around it in great weather about 2 yrs ago. Currently in turkey so will have to give it a miss. My question is, is it tougher then great lakes run. I enjoyed that one

It's certainly more pathless and has bigger climbs and descents. The final one from Narnain is over 3000ft and is a bit of proper mountain descending!

Found a map of the route which is slightly different from the one on the website.

As this guy does the race in under 4 hours and has the record for climbing all the monros (14 times each) I think he might know the best way.

Go to the link then at bottom of page there are 'alternative routes' click on this then you can then access a OS map.

where is it different? Different map orientations used but the main route looks similar now? doesn't seem a huge amount of route choice...

oh.. off Narnain is different... isn't the race map the normal path up?

Seems quite different up Ben Vane to me, this route comes to the summit from a different side, I will be following this route for that section.

    Re: Arrocher Alps

is it? That looks more to do with Map orientation as SF's is a 3d map... either way both climb up a good 2500ft in a few k so I doubt route choice is huge.. more a decent set of legs and lungs..

Does anyone know if there will be a 'race' car park open on Friday night? If so is it possible to camp there? Are there any facilities? Just trying to avoid a long drive on Saturday morning, so any chance to be reasonably comfortable on Friday night would be grand.

Just looking at the entry list and see there is a running club called "Cosmic hillbashers". What a brilliant name for a fell running club!
