    Hi Kevin
That was another good day out!
It's certainly brisk. In my case it was a matter of running all gentle uphills (and obviously anything level), taking descents fairly steady and ascending reasonably quickly. Others will do it slightly differently but that's the sort of pace that needs to be sustained.
Also knowing the best lines is more or less essential.
I took 22 mins breaks in total - more than many I suspect.

Meanwhile Good luck with Dragons Back!

BTW here's my schedule if anyone's interested https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39139373/20...l%20Actual.xls

Well done Rob, I am very impressed with your time. I'm having ago myself on 13th/14th July, but my time is likely to be very much slower, luckily at 67 I get 24 hours and I will need every minute.
    Best wishes
    Sandra

Well we'll see about that ;-) Thanks John!

I've added a few notes and updates to this excellent route description which I believe to have originated from Phil Hodgson

Thanks Sandra. I hope the weather is as obliging as it turned out to be this weekend and that you have a great day.

Congratulations Rob, Superb effort. It sounds like you had a great day out. Sorry I missed it but we were cycling towards Ben nevis on Saturday. So glad for both of us that the weather stayed fine. reading your report brought back great memories for me of my JNC and meeting Jos and Mary on Greendale bridge. Well thats just the icing in the cake. see you at the dinner

Well done Rob, and good luck to others attempting theirs.
I am considering having a go this weekend. At 66 years I too have 24 hours, however being out of running due to a bad injury for the last 5 years
I will be going solo self sufficient with a small pack and mostly walking. I will also be tracking myself using my SPOT personal locator device.
I know that even if I succeed with 24 hours it won't qualify, never the less I will still enjoy the experience.
    Dave.

Rob - anyone - where is Monica's schedule? I have been recceiing and notice a discrepancy in the feel of the pace, so the schedules would be useful for 12 and 15 hours..

When you register an intent to attempt the JNC she sends you a copy. Not generally available otherwise.

    Thanks.

Trouble is, I am not really ready to register, this is a long range plan. I have been injured for several years since last knee operation, now just got back to being able to hold sub 13/ sub 14 hour pace over 4/5 hours: seemingly much faster mid route. Trouble is, every time I get back to this level another compensation injury happens - my knee does not work properly - - end up out for 3 months again. So I am reluctant to subscribe until I can hold the pace for 5/6 hours and uninjured for several months consecutive.

Don't plan to do it till next year.

But I would like to know the "right" schedule to help me see when I am getting closer..
The first section has always seemed to be too fast in relative terms all the way up to the climb up hart crag after which it seems a lot easier (to me) indeed the climbs of such as hanging knotts seem to have too much slack even allowing for slowing down over time.

So would appreciate if someone could cut and paste at least the first section splits here...if they are slower than "conventional" wisdom:

Coming to which - where do you register?

    PS - well done Rob.
