Well, had it started at 10:00 instead of 11:00 you could have counted on me, but it clashes with a prior appointment at 12:30, and I'd still be hauling myself across the Tooleyshaw bog at that point. Enjoy, those of you doing it.

another cracker today, the bogs were at their best up top! seeing Crowden looming into view on the return leg is always a real welcome site.

    thanks Des and team.

Agree with Barney-top event, thanks to all the team. Never had so many falls in one race! Jacket spuds and cake to finish it off nicely:thumbup:

I missed the spuds and cake at the end - grabbed some bottled water and bailed for home. Bugger.

Great little run with bits of 4 Inns and Holme Moss

Special thanks to the marshals at Soldiers Lump - t'wasn't that nice up there at times. - Did I imagine the hail?

I got some hail too, on the way up to Westend Moss. Well it was either hail or big f off drops of rain.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the race. It was the first big fell race I've taken part in, having only done the Trunce and Jack Bloor previously.

Highlights for me included going thigh deep in bog on Tooleyshaw Moor, only to go waist deep in the next bog. I also enjoyed the fantastic descent back down to Crowden.

Great race today, really enjoyed it. First time for me. Having done the classic Holme Moss a few weeks ago I knew its was going to be another mud bath & we weren't disappointed. I had a good run considering a large amount of red wine the night before. Felt a bit rough on the first climb, but got through it, to up the pace from Black Hill to the finish, catching 3. Only had one tumble & managed to keep my shoes off the bog monster, for a top ten position. Well done to comic Des & his roadies for putting on a grand day out.

Many Thanks to Des and his team of helpers for a splendid race today!

In 5 years of fell racing, I have to say that that was the most mud I've ever brought back with me off the hill!
disappeared into a couple of bogs, and a couple of scrambles to escape peat groughs
took about 3 mins off my time from 2 years ago though, so well pleased

Also had a great time - had not run a race since....erm...Jan, so was a bit tentative. Forgot waterproof coat in rush out of door, but managed to borrow one of nice youth hostel, to stay legal on the kit. I did not actually fall over, but was witness to many in front of me - one such a wipe out, and so close, I only just avoided running over them!

Really enjoyed it, despite ankle going over three times (at least). Fantastic little route, and full of interest (and bog and water).
