The initial line isn't marked, but the finishing line is pretty obvious - it's where you finish!!! There really is no excuse, the men had no problems, the women shouldn't either.

When Dave Brailsford threw that water bottle against the wall it wasn't the commisaires he was angry with..... I blame Pendleton for it and feel desperately sorry for Varnish.

Trying to simultaneously watch athletics, weightlifting and rowing. And do some work. The last one is the bridge too far, I think.

See page 33 - it would seem the zone is 15 metres before/after the lap completion line. This is in the middle of the straight. Is the finish line 15 metres after the middle of the straight?

Clearly the word "by" in the regulations is an error of some sort!

Mmm, I dunno? As far as I understand: the initial 'line' is 15m before and the latter 'line' is 15m after the start / finish, which in itself is irrelevant, - the BBC threw a red herring by only showing their positions when they crossed the start-finish line.
I think there might be lines, 15m before and after the start / finish - whether one of these doubles as the team pursuit line, I'm not sure.
How else would riders or judges assess a legal changeover?
Prepared to be shown wrong though.

The rules haven't changed they're just stricter these days - you ride one lap and swing off not one lap and fifteen metres!! If you look at the Chinese DQ you'll see exactly what I mean.

To make it crystal clear this is the moment they were DQd. As you can see Pendleton below has jumped the gun and crossed the finishing/250metre line before Vanish finished her lap.
