Brilliantly scary ride with the boys from Castle Bikes MTB club last night! Went to pick up my bargain ex demo Exposure MaxxD from them, good to have friends with bikeshops! Decoded to tag along with their ride. It was most definitely scary in places, especially when the night set in in the wooded singeltrack :w00t: But was told afterwards it was the baptism of fire ride and the most technically difficult they can find on Machen Mountain and I obviously graduated, even though I walked the two really steep scary drops, as they said: see you next week
Mind, I wasn't the only one walking those drops... Only one guy rode the second drop... about 2 metres of mossy bank you can apparently just roll off. He made it look easy... but without a run out and on a steep wooded slope, you defo need to know what you are doing! I decided I leave hanging off the trees to another nightACE ride though and was happily at the front of the ride on the climbs and less techy stuff
Next time I am out with them I shall put the handlebars up a little and the saddle down... as my aggressive cross country set up certainly wasn't helping me. Managed to use all the travel in my lovely forks as well for the first time whoop!
Not sure I want to keep the new handlebars at 710 mm... I will give it a few more rides, but think I am going to cut them down... wibble...
