The route is a mixture of everything but mostly grass/bog - the section over Dow Crag is rocky as is the descent from White Pike. I think Harvey's do a map of all the classic Lakeland races.
You sure your talking about the right race here? I'd be very worried if I got to either White Pike or Dow on Dunnerdale !

Wouldn't normally dream of questioning Bob but I was thinking the same thing. Running it for the first time this year but doesn't take long looking at the map to see a lack Dow Crag or White Pike.

Going back to original question then, what is the terrain like? I assume usual Lakeland mix, although there seems a reasonable amount of decent running towards the end once you've lost height - says the ever hopeful ex road runner!

Are we confusing the Dunnerdale with the Long Duddon lakeland classic?

Also any recommended campsites? I've only seen Turner Hall nearby?
The venue for the mini MM do camping http://www.coniston-sports.co.uk/about_us.php

I think it's £7.50 per person with good facilities. We should be there is a van with some mates who will be camping so may see you there

    Oops!

Keep forgetting that there's a short race.

It's even morre confusing than that: there the Duddon long, the Duddon 'short' (which is a medium) and the Dunnerdale (different valley), which is a proper short blast of 5 miles with lots of sharp little ups and downs...

Generally very runnable, mostly grassy, though can be very wet and slippery on the descents and there is plenty of bog. Not really much significant rock

And a very steep start along something called a road. Great little race though, I'll be there.
For anyone in the caravan club there is a good CL at Upper Hawthwaite farm, easy walk to and from the race plus they have electricity and a shower! I stay there every year for this race and usually go for a bit earlier in the year as well, lots of good running and walking direct from the site.
