Wadsworth Trog is my bogey race. I've never got within 30 mins of what I think I could do. I might try one of them recces next time

A classic local race for local runners. The last quarter or so is across open moorland with a profusion of trods and paths. You're unlikely to get lost to a life threatening degree but highly likely to not run to your best potential and / or have a wretched hour or so running round in circles :closed:

most of it is straight forward but CP 11-13 is definitely worth a recce. Even after recceing and doing the race before I've taken a dreadful line along here. If the visibility is poor it could be a mare following the compass - the off piste ground is harsh

Cheers chaps. Good enough answers for me. I usually get lost to some degree anyway ! I'm in.

Second that; I did a reccie of cp11-13 before my first attempt in 2010 and still got lost; ended up abandoning and cutting down to the road instead. Finding cp12 isn't too bad (unless it's really closed in) as you can always aim off to the west and strike the footpath early on but getting to cp13 requires a reccie or some very careful mapwork. Don't rely on following anyone over the moor; it gets very spread out at that stage and you could easily be entirely on your own even if the clag isn't that bad.

This one's definitely on my list for 2013; I absolutely loved the conditions this year and I'll be praying for more of the same! (sorry Hannah!)

Arrgh...don't! My nerves can't take it. I was still having nightmares about the race after it was over. I'll need to put the cost of the race up to cover counselling if you're going to be praying to the ice gods.
