Home from work, nice ride in the watery sun but still a tad on the chilly side. 73 mins 18 mile 1500ft

I do enjoy biking. (note to self, must do more)

20odd km each way to work and back today, took the hilly route each way, just because it was such a lovely day.
Under shirt, sleeveless fleece and winter jersey up top, Lycra tights but I'm after some roubaix ones and some neoprene overshoes now!

This might have been covered before? Has anyone on here tried one of the taster sessions at the Manchester Velodrome. How would one figure as a surprise present for an experienced and competent road / touring cyclist?

should make a good present if a competent cyclist. just the following points
Will they be OK with fixed wheel?
sometimes the concentration to keep upright can detract from focussing on racing but that will improve during the session
    pray they dont crash!!

They are absolutely fantastic! We went with a mixture of abilities from an ex top ranked amateur to complete novices, everybody enjoyed it hugely.

We've been trying to book as a club and they are booked up for ages but a solo rider should be ok

Cheers guys. It is for somewhat later in the year. Just getting my thinking cap on, as I'm not the best when it comes to surprise pressies.

Absolutely superb present, been a couple of times with my dad (60ish, fairly keen road cyclist) and my brother (mountain biker/BMX rider) and all 3 of us loved it.

Couldn't decide on a run or a ride but given the spring like weather opted for a ride. 30 miles in the late afternoon sun; pushing to get back before the lights were needed. Not very quick as it's been a while but ave was 17.1mph and with lots of chuffin traffic lights all of which were on red it wasn't a bad effort given the lack of training let alone cycling!
