Thanks for the invitation, Latege. A bit far to travel, though. Lots of alternatives in Yorkshire - from memory, Huddersfield, Roundhay, Bradford, York, Pontefract, Harrogate - and the non-Parkrun RunSunday on Otley Chevin.

    Re: Are Park Runs Destructive

Starting at parkrun level got me to my first fell race last year and have joined a club that mainly does fell/XC/ultra (that said I'm more road/XC). I think they're absolutely brilliant, my only qualms are with the sponsorship but am willing to look the other way. Admittedly this thread is six years old and the continued co-existence of parkrun and local 5k/10k events (and indeed their blossoming!) shows the answer.

    Re: Are Park Runs Destructive

    Broke my Parkrun duck today.
Fancied something different to a Saturday session for my lot after 2 hard work outs this week and Preston Park Run seemed to fit the bill.
So we had a BBH posse at Blackburn where my fellow forumite Multi-coloured cruised around to finish first.
Mens winner Preston, Ladies winner and runner up Preston, Ladies winner Burnley and Mens winner Heaton Park suggest my group quite like them.
I must say, I enjoyed it

I need a double take here. Am I reading this correctly? Has Doubting Thomas Witton really presented the forum with such extraordinary claim. It would appear so, Witton has changed his mind and accepted the inevitable. Parkrun is absolutely brilliant.
