    Re: Donations for Darren Hollo

I was at Team training last night and I thought I would give you an update on what was happening with the money you all donated to Woodhead in Darren's name.

First of all the team are very grateful for the generosity shown by his friends. We wanted to make the best of your donations and to make it relevant.

Both our team vehicles are classed as ambulances and therefore carry defibs. These are portable to a point. They are similar to those in cinemas, stations etc but are impractical to take on the hill as they are too heavy and bulky. To be effective defibs need to be used quickly after heart attack and so we really need to carry them in our packs to make sure they are available when required.

With this in mind, the first items we have chosen are two portable mountain AED's. These are automated external defibrillators. They pack to the size of a can of coke and can be carried anywhere. They will be invaluable when we are marshalling fell races and attending other incidents.

There is some money still to be spent and I will let you know what this will be spent on in due course.

Great stuff, Ian. Thanks for keeping us updated. I can't believe they can get defibrillators that small. Impressive.

    Hi Ian,
I'd really like to read more about the AEDs.
Do you know if the manufactures have a website?

Tim Google HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500P Defibrillator, this is similar but not the ones we have bought, the defib centre has lots of info.
The ones we got came through our team Doctors and paramedics.
I'll try and find the brand if you want.

No need for the brand thanks Ian.
