Hi Nigel, stolly, that sounds like a good plan, at the moment it's only me and old un coming up from Hull on Saturday, so plenty of room in the car to get get back to Dunmail. It would be good to meet up with you guys. As old un said we've seen a lot of leg 2 lately and only done a bit of leg 3 in pretty poor conditions so we're keen recce at least the first part of it.

The start of leg 3 is pretty straight-forward, so another recce option is to park in Langdale, straight up to Stickle Tarn and on to Sergeant Man, then the BG route as far as you want.

There was a multi-forumite recce early last year and we went as far as Sacfell Pike, then took the Corridor Route down to Styhead before heading back to Langdale via Esk Hause and Angle Tarn. A good day out. I think Derby Tup and I did the same sort of run the previous year too. It's a good way to get the meat of leg 3 done without having to worry about leaving cars or the inevitable out-and-back over the easy section from Steel Fell. It'd be feasible to go as far as Wasdale and then climb up to Styhead and back on to Langdale.

Ha! Yeah, having a massive great chocolate cake waiting at the end of the run is recommended. https://twitter.com/i/#!/geoffcumbri...com%2Fo0k8yhzj

Sounds like an even better plan and still means I get a couple of Guinness in the ODG. Thanks Geoff.

No worries. I'll keep an eye on your plans on the thread as I might be around on Saturday and up for a good day out.

Depending on where you are based or is easier to drive to, you can park in Borrowdale and head up Greenup Edge to join the route just after Calf Crag. Then do as much as you want, or weather dictates, before heading back down to Borrowdale. Once past Great End you are heading away from the car somewhat but it's not too bad even if you drop down to Wasdale as the path back over Styhead is steady going.

Okay. Let me know what the crack is - I'm happy to run from Dunmail and down to a parked up car in Langdale from Bowfell or take one of the other routes from Langdale, whatever is preferred. What about a start time too?
