I'll take 550 altogether but have capped it at 425 for now as need to make sure people who can challenge in various age categories get to run! there is intsruction on the SI site explaining what to do...

I know why ROs do this, but sometimes it does irk me somewhat, and I do have to ask myself, why should someone be 'guaranteed' a place, just because they are a quick runner? Everyone else has to be organised and ready to enter, why can't "championship contenders" also be organised?

The clue is on the phrase "English Championships" - i.e. races designed to find out who are the best fellrunners in England. I'll be organising an informal race for spectators and camera-folk, to see if we can get from the start-field to Mam Tor/Nick (direct route) before Compo and his pack get there, and back across to Grindlow Knoll, before Compo and his pack get there, and then down (with no up) to the finish-field, before Compo and his pack get there.
Not sure if its do-able, but willing to try.
The hint of a suggestion that Championship races should only be for championship contenders doesn't recognise that the championships use regular events. If you run in an event regularly rather than just because it's a Championship race, then if it is made a championship race one year I see no reason to apologise for wanting to still enter even if I'm not a championship contender. Have done the skyline the last couple of years and will enter it again next year when it's not a championship race.
