The clue is on the phrase "English Championships" - i.e. races designed to find out who are the best fellrunners in England. What I find rather hard to grasp is why so many people who are not championship contenders feel the need to enter championship races...Originally Posted by fozzy
I know why ROs do this, but sometimes it does irk me somewhat, and I do have to ask myself, why should someone be 'guaranteed' a place, just because they are a quick runner? Everyone else has to be organised and ready to enter, why can't "championship contenders" also be organised?
Not overly bothered about it, but sometimes it just niggles a bit
Surely the race should be on the fells, not to get to the entry in!
