Incidentally it looked like Carnethy 5 shifted to a much more performance based approach.. where everyone enters and runners are picked afterwards..
Ha Ha Ha what a strange statment about the Carnethy 5. I've entered to run.

Well I meant either elite or running celebrities.. :-)

    Wasn't that the case?

I didn't meant that all entries would be elite.. just they take all the entries then pick who was in from those.. A Scottish runner told me that was the new system?

...a Scottish runner, an English runner, and an Irish runner walk into a forum.
The English Runner says, "Where is the Welsh runner?".....

Yikes i worked last night, wasn't even home by 10.38 when the race was full due to hideous traffic on M62, got up just now to do my entry and too late.. am praying will be given a place.... In the defence of those perhaps classed as at more 'competitive' end of the continuum.. i train really hard and work part time so i can run at a better level, consequently have no money, no pension etc. I am uncomfortable with the notion of being treated differently to anyone, but to work so hard and not be able to test yourself against the best is bonkers!

& for my input :-). Longdogs must, must, must be allowed to run!! Winnie wants to meet her hero  I'm afraid she may have a few seconds added to her time as she will what to stop and say "hello". :w00t:

    Here's a thought.

Have an opening date and a closing date for entries with no limit on the number of entries received, then pick the 500, or whatever the race limit is, at random from those that have entered. If you insist you could pre-select champions, wanabe champions, etc...

    Ha ha,
    Blinked and missed it!
I was hoping to do enough Champs races just to see, as I've never done a full set before.
Yeah, I know, I know: I should have been "organised" enough to stay up till midnight to get my entry in as soon as the clock ticked over - I was foolish and naive enough to think I may have had a full fifteen or sixteen leisurely hours to get my entry in...
I even set my Outlook at work to ping me a reminder - but I had to travel to another office today!
Anyway, I'm on the waiting list and if I don't get in at least it'll free up a bit of time for the family...

Plenty of other things to do!
